Ortega Elementary School is a part of the Austin Independent School District, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools. It operates a library media center that houses a collection of books on various topics, including business, education, entertainment, religion, and science and technology. The school has a parent-teacher association that organizes several cultural and academic events and works to foster cooperative relationships among students, faculty and parents. It provides academic classes in reading, writing, English, math, science, social studies, language arts, communication skills and physical education.
