i used interstate wrecker once before, when my car wouldn't start. they ended up just jump-starting it, and i made it to the shop on my own, with no towing necessary. they charged me a reasonable, slightly-discounted rate, as they didn't have to end up towing the car. i called again today, as my first experience had been a good one. the woman i spoke with said they didn't come out to jump start cars, though i explained it might need towing and i'd used them before. she repeated several times that they would not do it - but then, however, began asking what type of vehicle and where the vehicle was located. she then said they "preferred" not to have to jumpstart vehicles, because it is "dangerous to our drivers," and muttered some comment about it damaging my vehicle. so, essentially, it seemed, they wanted a commitment that i'd let them TOW it, but couldn't manage a jumpstart, even though i'd happily used their services previously. it's all about wanting more money, of course.
