- Dental ExaminationAn oral exam is routinely performed by the dentist during the course of an initial comprehensive exam and regular check-ups. An oral cancer exam refers to the identification and management of diseases pertaining to the maxillofacial and oral regions.
- X-raysTwo appointments are generally required for a procedure utilizing anxiolysis. During your first visit, your doctor will take a detailed health history. If you’re comfortable, he or she will look in your mouth and take dental x-rays. Next you’ll be given a prescription for a sedative medication to take the night before your second appointment so you can enjoy a good night’s sleep.
- Oral Cancer ScreeningAn oral cancer screening is usually performed during a comprehensive or recall (check-up) exam. Screening is painless and only takes a few minutes. The dentist or hygienist will use a laser light to assess the soft tissue for cell changes that might be indicative of oral cancer. If such cell changes are present, a small biopsy will be taken and sent to a laboratory for review. If the biopsy indicates that oral cancer is present, an excision (removal) will generally be performed.
- Teeth CleaningNon-surgical periodontal treatments include a professional dental cleaning along with scaling and root planing. Scaling and root planing are additional non-surgical procedures for removing hardened plaque and tartar from the mouth.

- Dental SealantsThere are several positive steps that you can take to reduce your risk of dental decay. First, all the active decay in your mouth should be treated immediately. Next, all teeth that would benefit from sealants (see additional handout) should be treated. This will prevent bacteria from reaching into the pits, fissures, and grooves that normally exist on the occlusal (biting) surfaces of teeth. Any stray bacteria that may still be in the sealed area are effectively cut off from their source of food and become inactive. Although sealants are most effective on teeth that have not been previously restored, they can be successfully placed on teeth filled with bonded fillings.
- FillingsA filling is used to restore a tooth that has suffered loss due to decay by rebuilding the tooth to its natural shape. The filling is created by filling the tooth with a dental material such as amalgam or composite resin. Omni Dental Group does NOT do amalgam fillings due to indications that amalgam contains mercury which can leak into the patient’s system and cause various health problems.
- Resin CompositeThere are different materials that inlays are made of, including gold, porcelain, and composite resins. Porcelain and composite inlays and onlays are cosmetic alternatives to fillings and are very strong compared to regular white fillings. Gold inlays and onlays are also suitable alternatives, but their appearance makes them less popular.
- VeneersVeneers can enhance the shape of your teeth, make your teeth as white as you want, and give you the smile you have always desired.

- ApicoectomyGenerally, a root canal is all that is needed to save teeth with injured pulps from extraction. Occasionally, this non-surgical procedure will not be sufficient to heal the tooth and your endodontist will recommend surgery. Endodontic surgery can be used to locate fractures or hidden canals that do not appear on x-rays but still manifest as pain in the tooth. Damaged root surfaces or the surrounding bone may also be treated with this procedure. The most common surgery used to save damaged teeth is an apicoectomy or root-end resection.

- Deep CleaningMy first visit was an examination and X-rays only, with the exam completed by Dr. Ho. I was warmly welcomed by the staff on my first visit, and was in a chair at my exact appointment time. My second appointment was today for a deep cleaning. Again, the staff was very friendly, I was in the chair on time, I was fully numbed with both topical and needle anesthetic, and Krista the dental hygienist was wonderful. I'm very happy with Omni Dental on Jollyville, and very grateful to the staff since the dental work I require is self-inflicted from not scheduling regular appointments.
- DenturesThough many advances have been made in the field of dentistry, loss of teeth is still an ongoing problem. In the United States, 26% of adults between the ages of sixty-five and seventy-five have lost all of their teeth. Currently, there are a number of options available for people who have lost their teeth. One of the most versatile and affordable is a set of removable dentures.
- Dental ImplantsDuring the last 25 years, dental implants have become a desirable alternative to other methods of replacing missing teeth. Excellent success rates and a range of available options give dentists a variety of new ways to treat and replace lost teeth.

- Osseous SurgeryPreoperative radiographs, clinical examinations, and periodontal charting will give us an understanding of the type of osseous surgery that is necessary. However, the full extent of the problem may not be fully discovered until the area is exposed during surgery. Radiographs are a two-dimensional, black-and-white representation of a three-dimensional, full-color area. For this reason, treatment goals will remain the same, but the surgery method may be modified. Prognosis of the teeth needing surgery, options, and a best guess for treatment progress will be discussed prior to treatment.
- Tooth ExtractionsWisdom teeth extraction surgery is often performed to prevent future dental issues or to correct an existing problem. Around the age of 18, adults have 32 teeth, 16 on top and 16 on bottom and yet the average mouth can only hold 28 teeth. Dental complications can arise when the four extra teeth, known as the Third Molars, or “wisdom teeth” erupt, forcing their way into the space.Wisdom Teeth Removal, wisdom tooth surgery, impacted tooth removal
- Bone GraftingThis diagram illustrates the simple procedure. An incision is made in the gum tissue to expose the bone and surrounding inflamed tissue. The damaged tissue is removed along with the end of the root tip. A root-end filling is placed to prevent re-infection of the root and the gum is sutured. The bone naturally heals around the root over a period of months restoring full function. (Occasionally, it is necessary to use bone grafting material or guided tissue regeneration material to promote proper healing and active bone growth.)
