Cycorp was founded in 1994 to research, develop and commercialize Artificial Intelligence. Located in Austin, Texas, it was founded by Douglas Lenat, a computer science professor at Stanford University in California. The company focuses on the Cyc project, an artificial intelligence project, which is a common sense knowledge base. The Cyc project works with the associated reasoning system to enable the development of knowledge-intensive applications. It is one of the few developed knowledge bases worldwide and combines with the Cyc Inference Engine, to provide the Cyc-application user with a variety of information solutions and services. The Cyc project is utilized in a variety of applications, such as text understanding and knowledge management applications.
