- Ear InfectionsStrep throat is an infection caused by a particular strain of streptococcus bacteria. This infection can also damage the heart valves (rheumatic fever) and kidneys (nephritis), cause scarlet fever, tonsillitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, and ear infections. Symptoms of strep throat often include fever, white draining patches on the throat, and swollen or tender glands in the neck. Children may have a headache and stomach pain.
- Sleep DisordersSleep apnea is a sleep disorder caused by repeated interruptions in breathing while you sleep. The Inspire system can alleviate this issue by delivering stimulation to key airway muscles, helping the airway remain open during sleep. Best of all – no mask or hose is required.
- ImmunizationsThe evaluation includes a medical assessment, audiological testing with and without amplification, speech perception testing, and CT scan. Speech-language evaluation and psychological evaluation may also be required. A meningitis vaccination is required of all cochlear implant recipients.

- NeurologyAs a board-certified head and neck surgeon, Dr. James Kemper subspecializes in otology and neurology. He joined Austin ENT Clinic in April 2011 after more than 10 years of solo practice.
- Multiple SclerosisThere are various options for treating balance disorders. One option includes treatment for a disease or disorder that may be contributing to the balance problem, such as an ear infection, stroke, or multiple sclerosis. Another option includes balance retraining exercises. For those diagnosed with Meniere’s disease, dietary changes such as reducing sodium intake, reducing alcohol, caffeine, and/or avoiding nicotine may be helpful.

- UltrasoundDr. Butler is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and evaluates parotid neoplasms, thyroid nodules and other neck masses. He is ACS trained in ultrasound and needle biopsy which assists with determining if surgery is indicated or can be safely avoided.
- Computed TomographyOur physicians will do a thorough examination in our office that many times will include a CT scan of the sinuses to accurately assess the specific areas involved. CT scanning can be done in our Central Austin location, allowing a review of the results on the same or next day.
- ChemotherapySurgery may be required for large cysts and tumors, while some benign and cancerous tumors can be treated with radiation and chemotherapy.
- Radiation TherapyIf detected early, head and neck cancer is often curable. Possible treatments include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, or a combination of these, some of which can affect eating, speaking, or even breathing. In that instance, patients may require rehabilitation.

- Reconstructive SurgeryDr. Nolen is a native Texan and graduated from Texas A&M University. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School at Houston where he served as class president. He then completed his residency in otolaryngology – head and neck surgery at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Nolen then pursued advanced fellowship training in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of California-Davis under the directorship of Dr. Jonathan Sykes, one of the premier facial plastic surgeons in the country.
- Plastic SurgeryDr. Mark Dammert is originally from Dallas and feels very fortunate to call Central Texas home. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, he received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He finished his specialty training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Louisiana State University (LSU) and subsequently completed a prestigious fellowship in Facial Plastic Surgery at LSU. Dr. Dammert is the immediate past Chief of Surgery at Seton Medical Center, Hays County.
- AllergiesIf your physician recommends an allergy test, Austin ENT Clinic performs allergy testing at our Central Austin, South Austin, and Kyle locations. We offer standard IgE skin testing as well as RAST (radioallergosorbent test) testing, which involves drawing blood for analysis.
