The License and Inspection Department administers and enforces the building construction, property maintenance, and business and alcohol license codes. The department is responsible for enforcing the codes and ordinances pertaining to the unsafe building abatement, property maintenance, environmental issues, scrap tires and illegal dumping. Its administrative division is responsible for issuing business licenses and building permits, as well as informing general public regarding various policies and procedures. It is a part of city of Augusta, Ga., which also operates other departments, including fire, finance, information technology, human resources, parks and recreation, police, public services, solid waste and risk management.
