What is Yours for Children, Inc.? Established in 1985, Yours for Children, Inc. is a nonprofit sponsor of the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program ( CACFP ). We provide licensed family child care and relative informal child care providers with basic nutrition information. With this training, providers are better able to provide well-balanced, nutrient dense meals to infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-aged children. Additional training in various child care issues are offered in small group and conference settings. Secondly, we reimburse caregivers for the nutritious meals and snacks they serve their day care children. We monitor participation in the CACFP. In this capacity, we visit each provider a minimum of three times per year, give individualized and group training, observe meals/snacks served, and interact with their day care children through planned, nutrition-related activities. Most licensed family child care providers participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program as an enhancement to the quality of their service. The central office is at 303-313 Washinton Street, MA 01540 Auburn There are over 20 local home-based offices statewide. Our Area Coordinators ( field staff ) work out of these local offices. Their job is to enroll and train providers, interact with the children, and monitor the CACFP. Who is the staff of Yours for Children, Inc.? The professional backgrounds of our employees are varied. Several were, or still are, family child care providers, while others were educators, administrators, and dietitians. Licensed providers and many Informal Child Care Providers can join the YFCI food program. A family child care provider is an individual licensed by the Massachusetts Office of Child Care Services ( OCCS ) to provide child care in her/his home for six to ten non-related children. The licensing process involves many steps. What is an informal relative child care provider? An informal relative child care provider is an individual granted approval by the Department of Transitional Assistance ( DTA ) to care for a relative's children, in the caregiver's home. This care is restricted to children, whose families meet specific household income guidelines, for a limited period of time, not to exceed one year. This specialized care allows the parent an opportunity to seek and maintain gainful employment or obtain job training. Many informal relative child care providers are eligible for and encouraged to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Professional affiliations.
