Orthopedic & Sports Massage

General Info

Colleen Morgan, LMT Colleen Morgan is a nationally licensed massage therapist and AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) member. She graduated from the Bancroft School of Massage Therapy in 2004. Colleen's specialties include, but are not limited to, Orthopedic Massage & Pain Management, Deep tissue & Sports Massage, Joint Capsule Modification, PNF Stretching as well as Swedish and other relaxation massage modalities. In 2007, Colleen became certified in Orthopedic Massage Therapy (OMT) & Pain Management in Dallas Texas under the guidance of James Waslaski. The specialty of Orthopedic Massage requires advanced training and consists of orthopedic assessment testing, pelvic stabilization, postural assessment, and neuromuscular re-education. Home care plans are given to the client for stretching short and tight muscles. When the client is pain free, a strengthening plan is instituted for the muscles that are over stretched and weakened. This will help prevent new injuries from occurring and increase the performance for athletic competitors. Prevention of injury is emphasized to the athlete (and non athlete). Colleen has worked with many professional athletes and has studied under nationally recognized sports medicine physicians such as Arthur Pappas, MD; as well as Colleen's husband Bill Morgan, MD. Colleen worked with the players of the Boston Red Sox 2004 team which ultimately ended in the winning of the World Series. She is now involved in the care of the AHL Worcester Sharks Hockey, the Worcester Tornadoes Baseball and the Worcester Surge Arena Football Team. Colleen has worked with cyclist and runners to enhance their performance for competitions in Triathlons and Marathons. She has also been the massage therapist to Boxers and Gymnasts. This broad athletic exposure has provided Colleen with an incredible base as she continues to work advanced programs for the elite athlete. Beyond sports medicine, Colleen has an interest in the treatment of multiple chronic medical conditions such as fibromyalgia, frozen shoulder, lateral and medial epicondylitis as well as spinal conditions. This includes the maintenance of conditions such as multiple sclerosis, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and other pain syndromes. This also includes injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents, work related injuries, or other symptoms that continue despite maximal medical intervention. Colleen continues to educate herself in medical and holistic healing. She also works closely with orthopedic doctors, Chiropractors, Athletic Trainers, Physicians Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and physical therapists. She participates in current medical updates and is involved in cutting edge treatment modalities and continuing education. Colleen utilizes her knowledge, along with intuition and communication, to create a healing process for the client in a way the client can understand. This approach must be a team effort between therapist and client. Treatment encompasses both physical modalities and education. As the patient learns, he or she becomes an integral part of the healing and recovery process. Colleen's resources of Therapists and world class Physicians allow for superb management of all presentations regardless of their complexity.
