  Mr. Monyak is experienced in a variety of other types of civil cases.  Among other things, he has represented national and regional businesses and other clients in cases involving non-medical professional and business liability, commercial contract disputes, employment agreements and covenants not to sue, protection of trade secrets and other proprietary information, and alleged business fraud.

  Mr. Peters focuses his practice on the trial of complex and high stakes cases, most often the defense of medical providers.  He has achieved notable success as well in other types of litigation, including automotive and premises liability and product cases.  He is lead counsel in Georgia for one of the largest medical malpractice carriers in the U.S.  Because of his experience and reputation, Mr. Peters is often called upon as a mediator and arbitrator, and has assisted in resolving hundreds of disputes.

  The firm has broad experience in a variety of civil matters, with particular expertise in representing healthcare professionals in medical malpractice cases and before various credentialing bodies, and in representing consumer and industrial product manufacturers in products liability cases.  The firm is active in a variety of other areas, including alternative dispute resolution, construction litigation, general tort and contract cases, and personal injury litigation.

  Sean Hickey joined Peters & Monyak in 2022 and concentrates his practice in representing individuals and entities against allegations of professional negligence. Prior to joining the firm, Sean gained valuable experience representing clients in personal injury, property damage, and probate matters.

• Medical Malpractice
  Abby’s practice is devoted to civil defense, focusing primarily on the representation of healthcare providers and hospitals in cases involving allegations of medical malpractice. Abby graduated cum laude from Mississippi College School of Law where she was a member of the Moot Court Board and Law Review. She served as a member of multiple moot court competition teams, including the Phillip C. Jessup International Competition, winning awards for Best Oralist and Best Brief. After law school, Abby served as a Staff Attorney for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Prior to joining Peters & Monyak, Abby was a partner at an Atlanta based insurance defense firm.
