Dr. Nelson earned his bachelor’s degree from Presbyterian College in 1996. He graduated from the Medical College of Georgia in 2000. Dr. Nelson went on to complete a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at the University of Cincinnati and Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital in 2004. Dr. Nelson is double board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. He has been in practice with his friend, Dr. Baker, for 16 years. Dr. Nelson has been practicing medicine for 16 years. Prior to joining Piedmont, he worked as an employed physician with Athens Regional Medical Center. He has been in practice with his friend, Dr. Matthew Baker, for 16 years.

Dr Baker is a wonderful doctor. He was the pediatrician for 2 of my children from birth to 5 years as well as our family doctor until we moved out of state. He is very personable. My children really responded well to him and didn't mind having to "go to the doctor" as long as they knew they were going to see Dr. Baker. I always felt very comfortable asking him anything health related. I would highly recommend him!

Dr. Baker is an amazing doctor!! He is very attentive and patient with both children and parents. He takes all the time you need to talk through concerns and questions. He goes out of his way to follow up with patients and take care of each patient individually. Our family feels extremely blessed to have Dr. Baker as our physician!! The negative review below does not even sound like the person I know. That is not my experience nor the experience of my friends that use Dr. Baker as well.

I think Dr. Baker is a wonderful Doctor he has taken care of my child after hours and always has been helpful. There has never been a time when i need him and he was not there. As young parents he has always explained everything to us when she has had health problems. I think children love him, my daughter is not very playful when it comes to men, but when Dr. Baker walks in the room and talks to her she is the happiest thing and coo's and talks back! So who ever wrote the first review is crazy and i think you got the wrong impression about Dr. Baker!

I don't suggest anyone take their precious child to Dr. Baker. He was very biased & unreasonable with my family. We had just had a baby, were new in town, had other children at home and he was so rude & arrogant that he made us feel bad about ourselves. We left his office not quite understanding what had just happened. He would not discuss some common concerns with us, like he didn't have time to spend with us. We have since found a competent pediatrician that has time for our concerns.
