- Tree RemovalPre Purchased Tree Inspection Often times the presence of large mature trees is a deciding factor when one purchases a home. However, we have seen many times when people unknowingly purchase a dead or dying tree along with the home. Depending on its size and location, a tree removal can cost anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars to remove. Anyone buying a home hires an inspector to evaluate the condition of the home and its appliances so they know what they are getting into. Costs to rectify any problems are then negotiated with the seller. The same thing can be done dead or dying trees. For a fee an ISA Certified Arborist will inspect the trees at the property and give you a report as to their general health and if there are any major issues such as dead or dying trees on the property we will give you an estimate to mitigate the problem. If you purchase the home we would be happy to continue the relationship to help you care for your purchase.
- Stump Grinding and RemovalSome methods of stump removal include digging them out of the ground by hand... not fun at all, trust me on this one! Yanking them out with a truck and chain, which can lead to costly vehicle repairs, or digging them out with large heavy machinery like a back hoe, which can be very expensive. The best and most economical option for removing a stump is to use a machine designed to remove stumps, called a “Stump Grinder†.
- Crown ReductionShall consist of Crown clean; removal of dead, diseased, dying limbs, broken limbs and branch stubs to 1/2" diameter and larger where practical. Crown thinning, selective thinning of densely growing limbs at branch ends as well as removal of crossing and interfering limbs. Limbs interfering with buildings, adjacent plants, or that need to be elevated over streets, side walks, walkways will either be removed or their growth pattern redirected where possible.
- Storm Damage CleanupThen we do selective thinning out on the ends of branches. This allows for sunlight to penetrate throughout the crown of the tree in order to keep interior branches alive. Selective thinning also helps reduce the potential for storm damage.
- Tree PlantingIt is critical that you do not bury the crown of the tree. The crown of the tree is that portion where the tree trunk stops and the roots start. Determine where the top of the first root is. You may have to pull the burlap away from the trunk if you have a ball and burlap (B&B) tree. If it is a containerized tree you might have to scrape away some soil to find the first root. Dig your tree planting pit 3" to 4" shallower than the root ball height. Don't loosen the soil at the bottom of the hole or the weight of the tree will cause it to settl

- Tree MaintenanceWhen I cracked the Log Open A long time ago I found myself splitting black walnut for firewood. Inside was a beautiful black core of wood. "What a waste", I thought to myself. This lumber costs a premium at the lumber yard! Having a liking for woodworking I began researching portable saw mills. After I found the one I liked I started sawing logs into boards. Being in the "tree care business" I have a pretty steady supply of logs.

Today other types of mulch being used include: Bark chunks, usually from pine trees; Wood chips from tree trimmings; Cedar, fir, and pine chips from logging operations; Wood fines... which are tiny wood chips and dust from screening larger wood chips; Compost and pine straw (needles) are also used as mulch. You can even purchase "Painted Mulch" which is simply painted wood chips in various colors.

- Lawn MowingKeeping your mowing height at 2.5" to 3" helps control certain weeds like spurge, which is a short squatty weed, by shading it out. Scalp your lawn short and expect spurge to grow! Turf quality and density also plays a part in controlling true crabgrass. Crabgrass loves the water stressed parts of your lawn. Along the sidewalks, next to the driveway, near the foundation... all places that are difficult to water. Adjust your sprinklers to better water these areas and crabgrass won't be a problem.
- Lawn MaintenanceInsect and Disease control: Occasionally some lawns will experience other problems that have to be assessed on an individual basis. First we diagnose the exact disease or insect infestation. We advise you what cultural practices necessary to avoid or correct these problems.
