It is the aim of the nursery school to create an atmosphere of love and concern in which the child can learn to know the world as a place of wonder. We acknowledge the importance of teaching the preschooler about the world in which they live, and strive to guide them as they seek their own identity, develop initiative, and grow in the knowledge of their own abilities and an understanding of others. Daily Program: Since children thrive on a routine which offers them security with variety, a daily schedule is followed at the Armonk Nursery School offering activity alternating with quiet time, large group involvement balanced with individual activity. Most days include: * Work Time * Story and Listening * Music Participation * Snack * Physical Activity * Clean-up Special Programs: Special experiences in Nature/Science, Music, and Creative Movement are presented by Teachers who are experts in their fields. In each experience, a new skill may be acquired; new knowledge may be accumulated. For Two's: The Almost Nursery School Program is a socialization and play group for two year olds. The program offers an introduction to Nursery School activities including dramatic play, blocks, art, crafts, cooking, painting and peer social experiences. Playcare: Playcare is a babysitting service provided to the community at a nominal hourly rate. Children from infants to 5 year olds may participate.
