Abingdon Elementary School offers a variety of educational programs and extracurricular activities to students in prekindergarten through grade five. Its academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as reading, writing, mathematics, science, English and physical education. The school has an Abingdon baton club that teaches physical fitness, eye and hand coordination, muscle tone, good sportsmanship, teamwork, personality projection, ambidexterity and self confidence. Abingdon Elementary School additionally has a television studio where students can perform on-camera reading duties, as well as run audio mixers, teleprompters and switchers. It supports literature lovers, naturalist and YES clubs and conducts classes in communications and African drumming. Abingdon Elementary School is located in Arlington, Va., and is a part of Arlington Public Schools.
