I started to be seen by the doctors at AWI in July of 2011. I was previously being seen by another Chiropractor for about a year before coming to AWI. My previous doctor did not use some of the methods that Dr. Mike has been doing with me since moving over to AWI, specifically traction. Within 2 weeks of treatment by Dr. Mike and the supporting staff I no longer was having headaches and constant discomfort and pain in my neck. Dr. Mike has taken extra care to explain to me what is wrong with my spin, why I have felt the way I have and how they intend to fix my problems. I went to see Dr. Walker for an evaluation in Dec of 2009. From what I had learned of chiropractic I wanted to make sure that I was in alignment. I was not in any pain but xrays showed that there was a lot of corrections to be made. After 3 months of adjustments and traction there was huge improvement in the curve of my neck and my hips were getting level. After 6 months there had been over 20 degrees of correction made - in essence saving me from degeneration, pain, disability and disease down the road. I had also learned that chiropractic can help with many other issues, including blood pressure. I had been taking blood pressure medicine and through a procedure called a "toggle" and weekly adjustments I am happy to report that I have been off the medicine since June of 2010! My blood pressure averages 110-115 over 73-78 and I am truly grateful. I am a health advocate and I know that my regular visits to Advanced Wellness Institute have added quality years to my life! I had hurt myself in highschool due to a ski accident and over time my injuries began to pile up. I love sports, but I started to losed sensations on my fingertips and my neck and back was always sore. I went to several chiropractitioners but they couldn't figure me out. As soon as I stepped into the office with Dr. Walker he began educating me on what was wrong with my neck and spine. He showed me in detail what was causing my injury and the process that it will take in order to fix it. He took his time explaining and treated me with complete care. I knew that if I could get this fixed, than he had to be the one helping me out. After committing to a couple months of therapy, I am playing full court basketball, and tae kwon do. I visited Dr. Walker after a low back injury. He took a history, did an exam and did x-rays. He showed me in detail what my condition was. Besides the injury, I had major loss of curvature throughout my spine. My left hip was lower than my right. Dr. Walker was honest in saying that there may be only a 50/50 chance of making improvement in my lower spine. I began treatment and received electro-stim, adjustments, exercise, orthotics and traction for my upper and lower spine. The symptoms were less or gone in a few weeks. New x-rays have shown increases in the curvature of my spine. The orthotics helped level out my left and right sides. Dr. Walker cares about his patients back and neck issues. And he cares about our long term health. Our spines house the nerves that control every function in our body, so a healthy spine promotes health throughout. I was in trouble, could not walk for very long, walked with a limp, could not sit, could not stand, could not do anything with the pain I was experiencing. By chance, I drove by the office and took the phone number down and called Advance Wellness Institute. I talked with Dr. Walker and asked him if he would accept new patients, he did. I asked him if he took the health care insurance I had, he did. We set up an appointment for the next day and the rest is history. He has done a fantastic job with me in a very short time. He did an extensive examination to determine my issues, Dr Walker then prepared a solid gameplan to get me back on track. It has been working extremely well for me. The pain is finally gone thanks to him. The Staff at Dr. Walkers office is very accommodating and pleasant, very helpful at all aspects. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable.
