Son's has great food and great wait staff. We have ordered food to be picked up for a group several times. It has always been good food, well packaged and ready to pick when requested. Prices are very competitive.

We had a terrible experience at Son's House of Barbecue. We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer and it took 20 minutes to receive it and it was literally swimming in grease. Blotted them with a paper napkin to remove some of the grease. I ordered pork barbecue plate with onion rings and baked beans and my husband ordered beef brisket with french fries and cole slaw. My bbq was spoiled with a bad taste and it looked like it had something growing on it. I am not sure if it was bacteria or what, but it literally looked like it had tiny hair-like-things growing on it. I could not eat it. My husbands brisket did not look like any brisket that I have ever eaten. It looked like rump roast that maybe had been cooked in an oven or crock pot. It had no barbecue taste and it was dry and not good either. We could not eat our food at all. I feel if I had eaten the pork that I would of been very ill. The waitress immediately took our food away after we complained with no questions and would not take any money for the tea and soda that we had. We would not recommend this restaurant to anyone
Finally, a restaurant in Arab that actually prepares its own home cooking. You would expect a town like Arab would have plenty of good cooking from local eateries. This is definitely not the case. I sampled the restaurant shortly after it opened, but I was not overly impressed (probably because they weren't then prepared for the flood of Arabians searching for something decent to eat). Upon a recent return visit (2/17/10) to Son's House of BBQ, I was surprised at the quality of the food and found the bleu cheese burger an excellent choice. The meat patty was clearly NOT previously frozen and apparently been formed by hand from fresh ground beef and had hand battered onion rings on top. (I actually believe them that they were handmade.) Wow! Someone actually stood in that kitchen and formed that meat patty with his or her own hands. My wife and stepdaughter have been eating Son's pulled chicken sandwiches for a while, and I'm glad I agreed to join them last week. Congrats!
