Johnston Elementary School, governed by the Appleton Area School District, serves students in kindergarten through grade six. The school administers the Healthy Kids Program, which is a nationally recognized initiative that provides opportunities for physical activity and better nutrition to students. Johnston Elementary School provides before- and after-school child care programs through the Appleton YMCA. It offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including art, drama, technology and library clubs. The school also coordinates the Battle of the Books competition for students in grades four through six. Johnston Elementary School organizes various types of before- and after-school intramurals that includes soccer, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, flag football and floor hockey.
