The Department of Public Works is a part of the city of Appleton, Wis. It is responsible for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the city's infrastructure. The department provides construction and maintenance services for sewers, streets, sidewalks, bridges and water mains. The department s inspections division is responsible for enforcing various state and municipal building and erosion control codes. Its traffic engineering division offers installation services for various traffic control devices, such as traffic signals and warning and stop signs.
