General Info
Melissa L. Kelly is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in private practice. In 2011, she received a Master’s degree in Art Therapy and Counseling from the College of New Rochelle in New Rochelle, NY. She is currently working towards becoming a Registered Art Therapist (ATR). Melissa also holds an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts. While studying at Maine College of Art in Portland, ME., and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA., Melissa enjoyed working with a variety of mediums including: watercolor, paper making, photography, collage and sculpture. Melissa pursued a career in Art Therapy because she found that she is fascinated by people’s drive to create and express their life experiences. In addition, she saw just how healing the creative process can be. Early in her career she facilitated groups and individual sessions in an inpatient psychiatric hospital for adults who have experienced trauma and co-facilitated bereavement groups for children and adolescents. Since becoming a licensed counselor, Melissa has worked as a Home and Community Treatment (HCT) Clinician and a Clinical Director at a private school for children with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Melissa lives in Knox County with her husband and two little boys. She shares a home with her two brothers where they live in a community like setting. She enjoys taking walks with her family, spending time with friends, reading, and creating art
