A Natural Approach to Healthy Living.

General Info

Hi. My name is Christina Gerhards and I am a Licensed Massage Therapist at Massage & Bodyworks, Annville, PA. I received my training at The Alternative Conjunction Clinic & School of Massage in Lemoyne, PA. I have been in practice since May 2000 as well as a Certified Level Practitioner of Associated Bodywork Massage Professional. Whether you are a first time client or someone that I have known for years, I want to talk to you about who you are and what challenges your life presents to you. My goal is to design a therapeutic massage session around your needs and goals. DoTerra essential oils are very much a part of your experience here at Massage & Bodyworks. It is such a blessing to have the opportunity of helping others and to see the healing process as you receive routine therapeutic care. Whether your goal is for stress relief or a chronic issue, I can help you. I am thankful for every second of every day that I may be able to help someone else feel even a little bit better.

Consultation Massage Your consultation massage appointment is your first appointment at which time a client history form will be filled out and a discussion as to what your needs and goals are will take place. You will receive a full body Esalen Relaxation Massage and at the end of the session, we will tell you what we found in the way of tension, how your alignment is and recommendations. ">">"Deep Relaxation" Massage text-class-6">Esalen style massage is my most requested form of massage. Esalen incorporates long, flowing, integrative massage strokes to remind the Central Nervous System that the body is a whole organism. This effect is achieved by crossing over as many joints as possible in one stroke. For example, a typical Esalen stroke will begin at the sole of the foot, and end a the tips of the finger of one hand. This way the stroke crosses the following joints: ankle, knee, hip, shoulder, elbow, wrist and finger joints in one long, continuous movement. The brain translates this as being reminded this side of the body is connected, the spirit translates this as bliss. These types of strokes usually cause one to take a deep sigh of relaxation as the body integrates. "Deep Tissue" Massage Deep Tissue Massage is a massage technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas. Deep Tissue massage helps to break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep Tissue massage usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two. "Sports" Massage Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of this type of massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Sports massage can help prevent injuries that so often get in the way of performance whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger. Sports massage can be aimed to help heal strained muscles and allow healthy ones to reach peak performance and maintain it while minimizing the risk of injury. Also, increase Range of Motion through passive stretching.
