Best sushi in Annapolis, hands down. I've been to Katana multiple times now (the first being their second day open) and it has never disappointed. Tonight, was the freshest fish I've EVER had - and I'm a huge fan of sushi so I eat it quite a bit. We started with the seaweed salad which tasted fresh and vibrant, served on a bed of cucumbers. Then we had the sashimi deluxe (16 pieces of sashimi) with three rolls. The sashimi deluxe came with 4 pieces each salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and escolar(white tuna). Each of these were SUPERB. FRESH. FRESH. FRESH. FRESH and tender. Then I can also recommend the spicy scallop roll with crunch.(They use a whole scallop sliced - not the scallop salad type of thing at other places, including Joss). But the roll you have to try is the Bonzai Roll. I don't even really remember everything in it, but this thing is amazing. Other than the food - atmosphere, ambience, service, parking, are all good. Wow. Check this place out
Historically, and I believe justifiably, Joss cafe has been benchmark for the local area. Most of the "new" sushi restaurants in the area have added their own signature to the mix, but none have equaled or bested Joss, till now... At Katana, the food is creatively prepared and beautifully presented, with flavor and freshness to match. Add the ease of access, parking, welcoming and attentive staff, in a comfortable and attractive setting, and we have a sushi option in Annapolis that hasn't disappointed us in our multiple visits. We still like to experience the unique Joss and downtown ambiance, but we are never left wanting by the dining experience at Katana (except wanting more...:)).
