- Pediatric CareDr. Blank joins our practice after relocating from St. Louis, MO. A native of Memphis, TN, she received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia. Here, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and awarded the Dean’s Award for the highest academic achievement. Dr. Blank completed her residency training in Otolaryngology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. While in residency, she trained extensively in all aspects of head and neck surgery, including pediatrics, oncology, rhinology, otology, and facial plastic surgery. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and has a special interest in general pediatric otolaryngology. Additionally, Dr. Blank’s clinical interests include the medical and surgical treatment of sinus disease and allergy, salivary gland disorders, and diseases of the thyroid and parathyroid glands.

- Ear InfectionsTonsillectomies and adenoidectomies are common and safe procedures. As a matter of fact, tonsillectomy is the second most common pediatric surgical procedure. It is also necessary at times for this procedure to be performed on adults. A tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy can help prevent frequent sore throats and ear infections. These procedures are not always performed at the same time. Only one may be needed, sometimes both.
- Sleep DisordersTo diagnose sleep apnea and other sleep disorders, a sleep study at an overnight sleep lab has traditionally been recommended. However, portable sleep monitoring devices have recently emerged to help identify disruptive sleep patterns without sacrificing your time or comfort.
- Kidney StonesThe parathyroid glands help control the levels of calcium and phosphorous in the blood. When over-activity of the parathyroid glands develops, it is called hyperparathyroidism. This causes increased levels of calcium in the blood. You might experience muscle weakness, premature thinning of the bones, kidney stones, decreased alertness, frequent urination, and occasional joint discomfort.

- Laser ResurfacingWrinkling will recur later in life; however it is unlikely that the “bags” will recur because the fat has been removed. Deeper wrinkles around the outer eye extended onto the temple are not greatly affected by the eyelid lift. These areas may be treated with laser resurfacing.
- Chin AugmentationChin augmentation using surgical implants can alter the underlying structure of the face, providing better balance to the facial features. This operation is often, but not always, performed at the time of rhinoplasty to help balance the facial proportions. Chin augmentation may be achieved by manipulation of the jaw bone (mandible) and augmentation utilizing this technique usually provides a more dramatic correction than with the use of prosthetic implants.
