Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association, based in Anchorage, Alaska, is a nonprofit, federally recognized, tribal organization of the Aleut people in Alaska, providing a variety of services. Established in 1966, APIA contracts with federal, state and local governments, as well as securing private funding to provide a broad spectrum of services throughout the region. Its services include cultural heritage, health, education, social, psychological, employment, vocational training, environment, natural resources and public safety services. A 13-member board of directors, appointed by the community s tribal organization, governs the association. Each director of the Aleutian Pribilof Islands Association represents one of its 13 constituents.
