  An arraignment is the process by which the defendant is read specific charges against him. It is the first step in the criminal process after arrest. It is a brief hearing. All arraignments are conducted after the suspect is arrested and booked by law enforcement. An arraignment takes place only after the prosecuting attorney decides to file charges.

  Generally, a misdemeanor crime is punishable by up to one year in county jail. Misdemeanor trials are held in the state’s lower court, sometimes referred to as Municipal Court. (Names for these courts vary from state-to-state) Examples of misdemeanor crimes include drunk driving, disorderly conduct or shoplifting.

Property Law

• Premises Liability
  “Slip and fall” is a term used for a personal injury case in which a person slips or trips and falls, and is injured on someone else’s property. These cases usually fall under the broader category of cases known as “premises liability” claims, because slip and fall accidents usually occur on property (or “premises”) owned or maintained by someone else, and the owner or possessor of the property may be held legally responsible.
• Property Damage
  Limit your communication with the negligent driver’s insurance company to matters pertaining only to your property damage. It’s okay to tell the insurance adjuster where your vehicle is so that they can do an estimate of your property damage. If your car is not drivable, then you can discuss arrangements for a rental car with the adjuster. However, you should not talk to the insurance adjuster about your injuries until you speak first with an anaheim auto accident attorney. Keep in mind that the adjuster is trying to obtain information that they can later use against you when it comes time to pay your claim. The adjuster is not your friend and their goal is to pay you as little money as possible to settle your claim.
