Reynolds & Reynolds Electronics, Incorporated was founded in 1989 by Renata and William Reynolds. Its product line - emergency return systems and door controllers - had been designed and developed by Mr. Reynolds specifically for a major elevator manufacturer. The emergency return system was then converted to be compatible with every controller and door operator on the market or in use. Bill Reynolds' passing away in 1992 necessitated a fundamental change in our technical staff. After a two year process, the Company was able to refocus on and continue its efforts to expand the product line.Since 1989, the productivity of our research and development efforts has been reflected in an increasingly better unit. Today, R&R's emergency power system is widely preferred in the elevator industry and recognized for its reliability, ease of installation and adaptability to any controller/door operator combination on the market. This preference is also reflected in a steadily increasing market share.A 3-phase model of the POWERVATOR emergency power system was developed for freight elevators with bi-parting doors. Its compact size, lighter weight and serviceability make this a widely used option on both passenger and freight hydraulic elevators.In addition, R&R worked with OEM suppliers to produce a small battery backup unit that marries with their existing controllers. These products can be found in the product lines of nationally recognized companies.In January 2001, W. John Reinartz joined the Reynolds & Reynolds Electronics team as General Manager & V.P. of Sales. He accepted the position of President & CEO in late 2002 and took the company in a new direction. Market research indicated that the elevator controller market was forecasting increased sales of traction elevators. R&R paralleled the direction by designing new products for the traction market.Today, we are the largest U.S. supplier of traction emergency power systems. Our patented Traction Powervator is CSA certified and has enabled us to grow with our customers to become the #1 supplier of traction-based emergency power supplies in the U.S.
