We first went to LL in the late 50's when Erv and Betty Chell became the managers of Bonell Nursing Home, in Greeley as it was known then. THere were 3 cabins, LL, Pine, and Spruce. The cabin was truly the bare essentials, but after living in India for 12 years,k we were acclaimated to such quarters. Over the years, mom and dad began to add their own improvements, inclouding indoor water, windowcoverings and a few kitchen items. Spruce burned down in the early 70's when my grandmother was housemother for a fraternity in Greeley and a burning log was left leaning against the building. It was sad to see it go. Today, with almost all of the accoutrements of a modern home added, the "cabiness" has been replaced with many creature comforts. However, the beautiful view of green sprawling meadows leading up to the top of Mount Meeker, the serence creek that ran below the cabin, and the ever friendly chipmunks, brings one to the most beautiful places in the mountains.
