Algonquin Middle School offers classes from grades sixth through eighth. The school enrolls more than 540 students, and is operated by the Community Unit School District 300. Its curriculum includes arts, computers, business, industrial arts, English, family and consumer sciences, foreign languages, health education, math, music, vocational and physical education, science, art and craft, and social studies. It offers an integrated school improvement plan that aims to provide a positive learning environment for all students, staff, parents and community members. It has art and beta clubs, student council, yearbook, and various intramural sports. Its Battle of the Books program encourages students to read books and the team competes with other teams from District 300 middle schools. Students are quizzed on their comprehension of the books. The school has a parent-teacher association as well, and offers meal and transportation services. The middle school serves McHenry County, and is located in Algonquin, Ill.
