The Police Department of Village of Algonquin is a state-accredited law enforcement agency that provides services for the safety and welfare of the public. It maintains a patrol division that responds to emergency and nonemergency calls, as well as enforces criminal laws and village ordinances. The department also provides services for the enforcement of traffic laws and preliminary investigations of criminal acts. Located in Algonquin, Ill., the police department also maintains operations, support, criminal investigations, K-9, and child and traffic safety units. It operates the Algonquin Citizen Police Academy, which provides programs and services for crime prevention in association with the residents.
