Operational for more than 80 years, the Scientific Laboratory Division offers a range of analytical laboratory support services for government agencies and the residents of New Mexico. The laboratory operates through biology, chemistry and toxicology bureaus. Its biology bureau provides a variety of testing services in the areas of molecular biology, virology, serology, mycology and environmental microbiology. The laboratory s chemistry bureau offers services for air and heavy metals. It also provides service in the areas of radiochemistry and organic and water chemistry. The laboratory additionally offers drug testing services. It provides general clinical request and animal specimen submission forms. The Scientific Laboratory Division is certified by the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments.
