After reading the first two reviews, I personally don't know about the managers. I've never had a problem or issue with any employee so far, and I've shopped there for years. I DO agree about the fresh fish mentioned in the other review, or even any FROZEN fish. The variety is pretty pathetic. Once I found a single lobster tail..just ONE and that was it! Sometimes they have catfish, but with the lakes around here, catfish can be gotten on a nice lazy Saturday afternoon for about free. The meats though are well cut and a young butcher who's very friendly and knowledgeable about what he does, and the people in produce are friendly as well. PLEASE get a better variety of seafood, and also more clarity on prices on some items, since on some it's confusing to say the least. I also went in today to get some empty buckets from the bakery which are FREE at other chains, and found a slip in my hand for $20!! I won't try for buckets anymore, but I'll still shop at Ingles, hopefully w/ more fish!

I like shopping there because it's roomy(unlike Harris Teeter which is like 10 ppl in a 2 person tent), the employees are friendly and helpful. The downside is lack of more ethnic and organic foods, fresh and otherwise, and like ALL of the other grocery stores around here, almost NO fresh fish. Even with the negatives mentioned, I'd still rather spend my time and money at Ingles instead of Food Lion(a Belgian conglomerate) or Harris Teeter(a haven for the pretentious, with VERY high prices in comparison to other stores). Ingles is at least a U.S. based store, and from right here in N.C. THEY get my food $$, not the others, just as I refuse to shop at Walmart for ANYTHING, including food. I'll take Ingles anyday over any and all of the others around here!

the cashiers and department heads are as polite as one would wish for. Always friendly and seem to care. But...... the store has two managers an older man and woman is a different story. The man is grumpy and non caring the lady wishy washy. At times she listens and others it is like a brick wall. Who wants to do business with a store where the managers seem uncaring of what the customer needs or wont?
