Pike Lumber Company is one of Northern Indiana s largest manufacturers and distributors of hardwoods used in the cabinet, millwork, furniture and musical instrument industries. Its three main divisions are: Forestland and Timber Procurement Division; Sawmill Division; and Distribution Yard Division. Pike s primary wood species include ash, basswood, soft maple, red oak, white oak, yellow poplar, black walnut and hickory. The company was founded in 1904 in Wabash, Ind., as D.A. Pike Lumber Company. In 1933, D.A. Pike relocated to the northern Indiana town of Akron. In 1978, Pike Lumber broadened the company s base by building a second sawmill in Carbon, Ind.
