great food!!! Good wait staff!

Abuelos in Abilene recently did a facelift on their interior to freshen the restaurant. We also noticed about a dollar price drop in the entrees. The waitstaff is good, replenishing drinks and chips/salsa almost at too fast a rate, and the entrees are delivered on flaming hot plates. You get a good sized plate of food for your dollar, and the dessert menu has delicious choices (something that tends to be lacking at other Mexican restaurants). This is a good meeting place and family place. I wouldn't specifically recommend it for date night, because it's loud with the tile floors, and there's no privacy between booths. It's also always busy at dinner and weekday lunch. I didn't give it five stars because the bar area is quite small, the restrooms are always somewhat grimy, and the salsa that comes with the chips has changed to something more like ketchup with a great deal of pepper in it... but on the whole we still pick Abuelos over the other Mexican choices in town.
